Designed by Charles & Ray Eames
Like the DSW chair or the DAW armchair, the RAR armchair is part of the family of «Plastics chair» by the famous designer couple Charles & Ray Eames. These creations dating from the 1940s, were born during the Low Cost Furniture Design competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. They represent for the time a real revolution, before becoming icons of design. The «Rocking Armchair Rod Underframe» (to give the RAR its full title) is a rocking seat taking up the codes of the various models of the collection. It has the same chromed steel wire braces as the DAR armchair, as well as a tinted polypropylene shell. To stand out, the structure is mounted on pretty wooden skids.
Elegant and compact, this small armchair invites us to relax. It will ideally dress waiting areas or a lounge, accompanied by a Scandinavian-style sofa. Standing alone or with other pieces, the RAR armchair is an expressive piece of furniture, inspiring a welcoming living space whatever the type of layout.
